NBC had just unveiled its list of shows for its fall schedule and Law & Order: Organized Crime is the only new series on it.
It is surprising that NBC is releasing a new series though because other networks have shied away from airing new programs due to the uncertainty brought about by the coronavirus (CoVid-19) pandemic.
Understandably in this time of uncertainty, networks would rather air shows that are already established rather than gamble on something new.
However, fans may already be familiar with Law & Order: Organized Crime. First, it is a spinoff of Law & Order: SVU and if you will notice, the new series will air right after Law & Order: SVU. Secondly, it is headlined by a familiar character, Elliot Stabler, who will be played by the same actor, Christopher Meloni. Thus, the new series will be not so much of a gamble for NBC.
What we see as a gamble, however, are the inclusion of upcoming seasons of shows such as The Blacklist and Manifest. Why, because both shows have productions in New York which has yet to re-open business establishments and pretty much all industries deemed as none essential.
Considering that New York has the highest number of CoVid-19 positive cases and deaths, it seem unlikely that these shows could already start production for its upcoming seasons.
But, while NBC has unveiled its fall schedule of shows, it did not include the premiere dates.
Also noteworthy is the inclusion of Chicago P.D. which might have been impacted by the death of black American George Floyd at the hands of white policemen. We will have to see how that event has impacted this show.
Other shows on NBC's fall schedule are The Voice, This Is Us, New Amsterdam, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Superstore, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Dateline.
