Kevin Love Trade Rumors: Should the Cleveland Cavaliers Start Rebuilding?

Kevin Love is being rumored to be on the trading block after announcing that he’s planning to return around January following a surgery for his injured big toe on his left foot. The Cleveland Cavaliers signed the five-time All-Star to a four-year $120 million contract after Lebron James took his talent to Los Angeles.

Kevin Love previously said that he still wants to be part of the franchise even if Lebron is now out of the picture. But what he wanted in return is for the Cavaliers to be competitive and strive to do the best they can with what they have.

"The only thing I didn't want was I didn't want to be a team that was going to tank or be not competitive," Kevin Love said. "I've been a part of that for a couple of years and then we started to build something. I wanted this to be a building year and still be competitive. That was my only hold up about the whole thing. They had told me they didn't want to take a huge step back.”

Looking at the team’s record, however, the Cavs could very well do just that. The team is sitting at 5 wins and 18 losses at the moment and there is little hope in the horizon to drastically change that fact. Of course, the franchise could undergo another rebuilding but that would go against Kevin Love’s above statement.

Even though the Cavaliers’ standing is atrocious, the 30-year-old forward hasn’t requested to be traded. In fact, Kevin Love is more than eager to play again to provide his team with a much-needed support.

And with the Golden State Warriors coming over to the Quicken Loans Arena tomorrow, the Cavs are in for one long night yet again. Hopefully, the rest of the roster can muster up the will to defeat the defending champions but given how the team looks at the moment, that is unlikely to happen.
