K-Pop fans around the world were shocked with the so-called Burning Sun club scandal that broke out this month, which later implicated the “2 Days & 1 Night” star, Jung Joon Young. Now, his former “Ulzzang Generation” co-star Kang Hyuk Min has also weighed in on the issue.
The Gangnam-based club has been the subject of an official investigation following allegations of prostitution and drug trafficking activities that involved popular Korean personalities. It also led to the discovery that Jung has allegedly been secretly filming women he was sleeping with. Even worse, the “Superstar K4” alum purportedly shared these explicit videos to his friends through online group chats.
As the scandal grows bigger by the day, Kang took to his YouTube channel to recall how Jung had been when they were still working together for the variety show “Ulzzang Generation.” They appeared together as part of the show’s fifth batch of stars in 2011.
Kang then told his YouTube followers (translations courtesy of Allkpop), "I personally think he was crazy about sex. It was very unhealthy and (his sex addiction) was severe to the point of an illness."
He recalled that in most of their conversations, Jung would only talk about the women he had been intimated with, “Like who he drank and slept with last night.” He added there were times when Jung would come to work after partying and drinking until morning.
Kang also shared there were moments when people would ask that he introduce them to his co-star, but he would refuse. In the end, Kang said he hopes Jung would be punished appropriately based on the acts he committed.
Jung has since addressed the scandal followed by the announcement that he will no longer take part in all of his ongoing projects in the entertainment business. “In regards to what is being said in relation to me, I admit to all my crimes. I filmed women without their consent and shared it in a social media chatroom, and while I did so I didn’t feel a great sense of guilt,” Jung said in a public apology letter (via Soompi).
