‘Jessica Jones’ Season 3 Air Date: Is Hellcat Going to be the Main Antagonist for Third Installment?

The release date of “Jessica Jones” Season 3 has yet to be announced although it’s been confirmed that it’s going to be coming out this year. Netflix greenlighted the third entry back in April 2018 with series star Krysten Ritter saying it will be available for streaming at the tail end of 2019, Inquistr reported.

Concerning the plot of “Jessica Jones” Season 3, nothing substantial has surfaced so far. However, fans do know that Trish (Rachael Taylor) and JJ’s conflict will be the highlight of the story; the struggle rooted in the fact that the former murdered the mother of the latter.

With the previous entry showing that Trish now has superhuman capabilities, it’s expected that she’s going to be transforming into Hellcat sometime during “Jessica Jones” Season 3. Despite this, it’s still unclear whether or not Trish will be the main antagonist of the story as show creator Melissa Rosenberg remains mum about the matter, Digital Spy reported.

“All I can say is, I always want to leave a season with doors open," Rosenberg said. “Trish has this incredible drive to be a hero, to do something powerful and helpful because she herself as a child was vulnerable to all sorts of ills. She's really on a deep level wanting to feel strong and powerful and safe, and wanting to provide that for others who have her kind of experience, so there's a genuine heroism in her.” So what will be the role of Trish/Hellcat in “Jessica Jones” Season 3?

Going by Rosenberg’s comment, it appears that the show creator will be using her as a layered antagonist, similar to what has been done to JJ as an unconventional superhero. This certainly plays on the series’ theme as a whole where everything isn’t so black and white. It’s also quite reminiscent with the plot of “Captain America: Civil War” where the conflict can basically be boiled down to good versus right. If the writers go down this route, this will be quite the installment for the series and would certainly deliver Rosenberg’s promise that the show is ending with a bang.
