Italy’s coverage rate, which is the share of national collective agreements in force for the wage setting aspects, came in at 49.5 percent in terms of employees and 47.3 percent in terms of the total amount of wages at the end of December 2016, according to Italy’s official statistics office Istat.
On a month-on-month basis, Italy’s wage inflation came in at 0 percent in December, as compared with November’s sequential growth of 0.1 percent. The hourly index on a year-on-year basis rose 0.4 percent in December, as compared with November’s year-on-year rate of 0.5 percent. Meanwhile, the per employee index was up 0.3 percent.
In 2016 as a whole, Italy’s wage growth on a year-on-year basis rose 0.6 percent, while the per employee index was also up by 0.6 percent, stated Istat.
