Israel issued evacuation alerts on Wednesday for three key ports in Yemen—Ras Issa, Hodeidah, and Salif—citing missile threats from the Iran-backed Houthi group. The warning came shortly after Israel said it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen toward its territory.

The escalation unfolded as U.S. President Donald Trump toured Gulf allies Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. Trump's visit coincided with intensified military activity in the region, following his administration’s offensive against Houthi strongholds in Yemen, which began on March 15. Despite ongoing tensions, Trump confirmed a ceasefire deal had been reached with the Houthis through Omani mediation, though the truce reportedly excludes Israel.

The Houthi militia has repeatedly launched drones and missiles at Israel and targeted commercial vessels in strategic shipping routes, claiming solidarity with Palestinians amid Israel’s military operations in Gaza. These attacks have disrupted Red Sea trade and raised global shipping security concerns.

Trump stated Tuesday that the Houthis had agreed to cease their attacks on critical maritime lanes. However, the group has not relented in its aggression toward Israel. In response, Israel has launched a series of retaliatory airstrikes on Houthi sites across Yemen.

Tensions in the Middle East continue to rise as Israel responds militarily to Houthi threats, even as the U.S. seeks to broker peace and protect shipping routes. The conflict highlights growing regional instability, with Iran-backed forces extending their influence and impact beyond Yemen’s borders.

This latest development underscores the geopolitical risks facing both maritime trade and regional peace efforts, as global powers attempt to navigate a fragile balance between diplomacy and defense.
