In 2009, Disney announced that it’s planning to create “High School Musical 4” as producers wanted to recapture the magic that made the trilogy quite the hit. But a decade later and no news about the film has surfaced.
But some are still quietly hoping that “High School Musical 4” will be made that will feature the mature versions of Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale), Chad (Corbin Bleu), Ryan (Lucas Gabreel), and Monique (Taylor McKessie). And now, that hope has taken on new light following Tisdale’s latest posting on social media.
Taking to Instagram, the “Amateur Night” actress uploaded a video where Taylor Swift and Brand Urie are seen performing their single “ME!” But instead of the single, Tisdale substituted it with “What I’ve Been Looking For” song that has been featured in the “High School Musical” franchise. The clip garnered a lot of attention including Kenny Ortega, the director who spearheaded the making of the trilogy. Of course, given the nature that video has, it’s unlikely that this is a hint that Tisdale will be reprising her role in “High School Musical 4.”
Tisdale already said that while she’s grateful to be part of that franchise, she’s already moved on from her role of being Sharpay. Vanessa Hudgens is also on the same boat as she recently revealed with Seventeen that she’s not interested in joining the cast of “High School Musical 4.”
“The Princess Switch” actress said that she’s too old to be playing a high school student. And even if she was offered a role that would befit her age – like a teacher, for instance – she still wouldn’t take it on account that she’s still “a teenager by heart.” Meanwhile, Zac Efron appears interested in appearing for “High School Musical 4” although he did admit being unaware that a spinoff series has been made by Disney.
