OMAHA, Neb., Aug. 09, 2016 -- Green Plains Inc. (NASDAQ:GPRE) today announced that it intends to offer, subject to market and other conditions, $150 million aggregate principal amount of convertible senior notes due 2022 in a private placement to qualified institutional buyers (as defined in Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended). The notes will be convertible, when certain conditions are met, into cash, shares of the company’s common stock or a combination of cash and common stock, at the election of the company. The interest rate, conversion rate, offering price and other terms will be determined at the time of pricing of the offering.
The company intends to use the net proceeds from the offering for general corporate purposes, including the financing of a portion of the potential acquisition of two ethanol plants affiliated with Abengoa Bioenergy.
