Global Geo-political Series: Global reaction on Trump’s UN speech

Global reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump’s speech was somewhat mixed. While he received praise from some allies and adversaries of the United States, some states like Iran was very critical of the speech, just like President Trump was critical of those nations. Some of the allies of the United States was also critical of the speech, just like the majority of the American media. Critical:

  • "This was a bombastic, nationalist speech. It must have been decades since one last heard a speech like that in the U.N. General Assembly. ... This was a speech at the wrong time to the wrong audience." – Margot Wallstorm, foreign minister of Sweden
