“As the automotive industry experiences rapid change, technological advancements and new transportation ownership models, the same cutting edge public policy issues are being raised in Washington, D.C. and in state capitols across the country. In such an environment, we are pleased to have someone with Damon’s experience and talent to lead our dynamic government affairs team,” said John Bozzella, president and CEO of Global Automakers.
Damon joined Global Automakers in 2015. During his tenure leading the State Government Affairs team, the Association has worked successfully with states and key constituencies on state legislation to promote automotive safety, green vehicle sales and connected automation. Prior to joining Global Automakers, Porter was a senior adviser to Missouri Governor Jeremiah Nixon on technology and innovation issues, leading the administration’s public-private initiative on broadband accessibility. He also served as director of public affairs for a Fortune 100 telecommunications company, chief of staff and legislative director for two speakers of the Missouri House of Representatives and was chairman of the transition team for State Treasurer Zweifel.
Porter has a J.D. from The Catholic University of America and holds a B.A. from Marymount University. He is a member of the Missouri Bar and admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.
