‘Game of Thrones’ season 7’s official trailer has recently been released and reveals the impending great war in Westeros as well as colliding storylines from each character. Meanwhile, it was speculated that a specific scene in the trailer may point to Jon Snow finally finding out about his true parentage.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the first official trailer for the highly anticipated seventh season of HBO’s fantasy-drama television series based on George R. R. Martin’s series of novels titled ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ has recently been unveiled.
The action-packed trailer opens to Cersei (Lena Headey) calmly saying, "Enemies to the east. Enemies to the west. Enemies to the south. Enemies to the north. Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it. We're the last Lannisters. The last ones who count." It is presumed that she is talking to her twin brother Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) as they plot their next move while in court in King’s Landing.
The next scene shows their brother Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) walking to the edge of a massive cliff as he watches Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) dragons take flight. Not to be outdone by the scheming Lannisters, Dany is also seen arriving at her royal refuge in Westeros, Dragonstone. She is heard in the background declaring, “"I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms and I will."
It seems that the fight in the Seven Kingdoms will turn out to be a bigger war than expected as forces from all directions are set to clash. Cersei seems intent on keeping the Iron Throne while Dany looks like she’s ready to wage war at all costs. Jon Snow seems to be facing major challenges as the new King of the North as his sister Sansa’s (Sophie Turner) loyalties remain ambiguous.
The footage also revealed several interesting major spoilers including Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan) and Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) making out, Greyworm (Jacob Anderson) getting his shirt ripped open by presumably Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), Melisandre (Carice Van Houten) making her grand return after being banished, Arya (Maisie Williams) venturing North, and Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) looking worse as he battles his fatal condition “grayscale.”
According to the Independent, the most striking footage in the official trailer shows Jon Snow (Kit Harington) throwing Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen) against a wall in the Winterfell crypts. This may mean that Jon has finally been revealed his true parentage since it was speculated that he may be a descendant of the powerful Targaryens.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is scheduled to premiere on HBO on July 16, 2017.
