‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Spoilers: Jon Snow, Arya Stark to Reunite? Sir Davos Actor Slams Pay Hike Rumors

‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is speculated to feature the reunion between Jon Snow and Arya Stark. Meanwhile, Liam Cunningham, the actor who plays Sir Davos Seaworth on the series, recently slammed rumors of massive pay hikes for most of the main cast members.

It was previously strongly speculated that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and his young step-sister Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) will finally reunite in the highly-anticipated seventh season of HBO’s fantasy-drama television series based on the novels authored by George R. R. Martin. According to Fandom, Jon and Arya’s reunion is highly likely considering Arya is now back in Westeros after abandoning her mission to become one of the dangerous Faceless Men.

The previous season saw the heart-wrenching reunion between Jon and his step-sister Sansa. However, it seems that not all will go smoothly in Winterfell especially since Jon and Sansa’s fierce disagreements in the field of battle, specifically for the controversial Battle of the Bastards. It was speculated that Sansa’s loyalties will shift away from her own brother in the new season.

Meanwhile, Varys actor Conleth Hill admitted during an interview with Newsweek that the feeling of having the show end hasn’t sunk in just yet. He said, “No, not yet. I’ve always been aware from day one how lucky I was, how special it was.”

He continued, “I’m also really proud that it’s made [in Northern Ireland] and shows off the beauty of where I come from. Our tourism has gone up because of it. It will be a big loss when it goes, for lots of different reasons—and not just as selfish as my own. I haven’t contemplated it yet. We’ve got another season to go.”

When asked to choose between Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) or Queen Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), he replied, “I don’t [think about it], to be honest. I think Cersei’s a bad article [Irish slang for a person] sometimes. But what’s brilliant about it is that they’re all human. You could argue that Cersei did what she did and blew up the Great Sept [in Season 6] because she was being abused by the High Sparrow and his people. It’s not as easy to be black-and-white about it.”

He added, “Look at how people thought about Jaime [Lannister] at the beginning versus now. It’s always changing—that’s what is so brilliant about the books and the series.”

Meanwhile, reports claimed that most of the series’ core cast members, specifically Harington, Headey, Clarke, Peter Dinklage, and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau, were going to receive huge pay increases for work on the final two seasons of the series. According to Express, it was speculated that the actors would receive up to £2million per episode.

However, Liam Cunningham slammed the rumors saying, "What?! You think the Game of Thrones works like a pensionable job in the civil service? Where the last men standing get the most money? It doesn't!”

He added, “Every time I see a new figure thrown around, €1m per episode, €2m per episode, I burst me ribs laughing. My bank manager is having a good laugh at it, too."

Cunningham plays Sir Davos Seaworth, a main character in the series. Sir Davos was previously a smuggler during King Robert’s time but was knighted for his loyalty to Stannis.

‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is expected to air on HBO on July 16, 2017.
