With the last quarter of the year almost here, it is not surprising that details about the Galaxy S22 have started to emerge in the rumor mill. Recent information from reliable leakers mostly suggests that the upcoming devices are getting some design tweaks, specifically in their dimensions and camera bump.
Samsung introduced quite a unique take on camera bumps earlier this year with the Contour Cut feature on the Galaxy S21 series. However, reports about the company’s next flagship phones suggest that it may no longer be included in the Galaxy S22 lineup.
Long-time leaker OnLeaks has shared a series of photos on Twitter that reportedly provide an early look at the upcoming phones. The supposed renders of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 UItra suggest they would still sport a prominent camera bump. However, they all appear more like a conventional camera bump than the Galaxy S21’s Contour Cut.

However, the case of the Galaxy S22 Ultra was particularly interesting. The original render OnLeaks shared showed that the device could feature a unique, asymmetrical form of camera bump to house its four sensors and flash. Another popular leaker, Ice Universe, weighed in, suggesting that the leaked render is plausible but added there is one more possible design for the device.
Ice Universe also shared live photos of the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s supposed camera array, which was reflected in a follow-up post from OnLeaks.
Following @UniverseIce comments on my #GalaxyS22Ultra, I asked my sources to investigate.

Seems a prototype w/ uniform body frame indeed exist but I got no confirmation on the camera housing design.

Meanwhile, Ice Universe has also reported the supposed dimensions of the three-device lineup. Overall, the Galaxy S22 models are purportedly slimmer and lighter than their 2021 predecessors.
The base model’s reported measurements are 146 × 70 × 7.6mm. The Galaxy S22+ dimensions were listed as 157.4 × 75.8 x 7.6mm, while it reportedly weighs 195g. Lastly, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is also slighter slimmer at 163.3 × 77.9 × 8.9mm and a gram lighter than its Galaxy S21 counterpart. Samsung fans will have to wait a few more months to confirm these details, though, as the series is reportedly launching in Q1 2022.
