French private payroll employment rises in Q3 2018, temporary employment decelerates again

French private payroll employment rises again in the third quarter. The flash estimate of payroll saw a modest rise of 0.2 percent in the third quarter, following the rise of 0.1 percent in the prior quarter. The economy added 30,200 net jobs. On a year-on-year basis, private payroll employment rose 1.1 percent, which is +211,100 jobs. Excluding temporary employment, it rose 0.2 percent over the quarter and by 1 percent over the year, showed Insee.

In construction, private payroll employment rose 0.5 percent. It stabilised in industry. On a year-on-year basis, private employment rose 28,000 in construction and by 5,200 in industry. Within market services, private employment continued to rise at a moderate pace, rising 0.2 percent. This is the same rate seen in the previous quarter. Excluding temporary employment, private payroll employment barely accelerated in market services. Private employment in non-market services stabilized in the third quarter.

Temporary employment slowed again in the third quarter. It fell 1.3 percent in the quarter after falling 0.6 percent. On a year-on-year basis, temporary employment rose 2.6 percent.
