French consumer sentiment remained stable in November, according to French official statistics office INSEE. The monthly survey indicated that the households’ confidence was stable at 98 in the month, the same as in October. This was in line with the consensus expectations. The sentiment index remains below its long-term average of 100.
French consumers’ opinion of their personal financial situation in the last 12 months has deteriorated a tad; the corresponding balance has lost two points. It has moved further from its long term average anew, stated INSEE. Meanwhile, households’ opinion of their personal financial situation in the next 12 months has barely changed. The index lost one point after raising three points in October. It remains slightly below its long-term average.
In the meantime, consumers’ fears about unemployment are evidently decreasing, stated INSEE. The sub-index had increased sharply in October and has dropped by 11 points in November. The corresponding balance has returned below its long-term average.
On the inflation front, households, in November, are slightly less numerous to consider that prices are expected to rise in the next 12 months, noted INSEE. The sub-index dropped two points and has continued to move away from its long-term average.
