Epic Games has finally addressed problems that plagued the initial release of the “Fortnite” Playground mode. The gameplay feature is now back online, along with new content in the v4.5 update.
The developer confirmed the news on Monday morning, a couple of hours after the release of the “Fortnite” v4.5 Content Update. Luckily, it took Epic Games only a week to fix the technical issues that plagued the initial release of Playground LTM on “Fortnite: Battle Royale.”
Playground was one of the most anticipated features in “Fortnite: Battle Royale” and shortly went live on June 27. Developers were forced to temporarily shut down the time-limited game mode after players reported unstable performance and matchmaking.
Epic Games bills the Playground mode as a training ground. So, this may cater to both new and long-time “Fortnite” players. As the feature’s name suggests, “Fortnite: Battle Royale” players can join a time-limited match without the pressure of a regular game.
In Playground, players can still explore the original “Fortnite” map within an hour while the storm will be shrinking in much longer intervals. Squads are supported in the Playground mode with more loot, Llamas, chests and ammo packs dropping every match.
Also released on Monday were the items included in the v4.5 Content Update. The “Fortnite: Battle Royale” arsenal receives the hybrid Drum Gun, which has “the stopping power of a rifle and the fire rate of an SMG.” The new weapon can be equipped with 50 bullets per round and fires a 26/27 base damage to enemies. Epic Games advises players to look for the Drum Gun in chests, floor loot, and Vending Machines.
Meanwhile, the PvE title “Save the World” also gets an array of new weapons, including the Stink Bomb, which releases gas that can damage an opponent from the inside. Weapons inspired by the July 4th holiday, namely Freedom’s Herald Pistol and Lynx Assault Rifle, are also going live through the in-game Weekly Store on Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT.
