Few encouraging words and actions on Greece

While most news and commentaries are pessimistic and frustrating, few encouraging words of hope surrounds the Greek negotiation too.

With so many communications, comments, counter-comments flowing the air it is difficult to isolate those, which matters most.

Latest updates on Greece -

  • Greek Prime Minister Mr. Tsipras is meeting EU president Mr. Trichet in order to dissolve the ice between Greece and its creditors.
  • Germany rejected Greece's latest 3 page proposal.
  • Greece's unemployment ticked up to 26.6% in first quarter.

Words and actions of encouragement -

  • This week European Central Bank (ECB) increased Greek Emergency Lending Assistance (ELA) by € 2300 million to € 83 billion. If ECB has hopes left on Greece, maybe we can hope for a deal too.
  • Top EU official Moscovici that he is looking forward to a happy ending to ongoing Greek crisis.
  • German Chancellor and French President met Greek counterpart yesterday on a sideline of Latin America summit. According to German Chacellor Ms. Merkel, Greece stands ready to work extensively to resolve all the issue with creditors and bailout monitors.

Next Euro zone finance ministers' meeting is scheduled on June 18th. Something substantial is expected from that meeting to resolve the issues.
