‘Far Cry 6’ Rumors, Leaks: ‘Far Cry Battle Royale,’ Dystopian Future?

There are a lot of questions with regards to “Far Cry 6” after the fifth numbered installment in the franchise did incredibly well. This gave rise to rumors, hearsays, and claims that have varying degrees of probabilities. Among the most interesting and plausible, however, are the reports about there being a “Far Cry Battle Royale” and the sixth main game being set in a dystopian future. That last part might just coincide with the launch of “Cyberpunk 2077.”

In terms of the most recent reports about “Far Cry 6,” one of the most interesting is how there are supposedly two games being made right now, Comic Book reports. The source of this information is incredibly sketchy, but it has ignited the imagination of fans. The details are rather opaque, as well, but there are a few things that can be inferred from what has been revealed, thus far.

Basically, one of the games that are supposedly being made in the “Far Cry” franchise is an online multiplayer title. Considering Ubisoft’s propensity and expertise in terms of open-world games, this could only point to a Battle Royale project. It’s not as if the company would likely be interested in MMORPG, which has dropped in popularity. As for “Far Cry 6,” a direction that the developers could take is to move away from the present and go to the future.

Of course, since this is a “Far Cry” game, the future that the title arrives at will hardly be that of “Star Trek.” Rather, it’s going to be more like “Terminator.” It’s not as if Ubisoft can’t pull it off either since the studio has flirted with sci-fi shooters before with games like “Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.” “Far Cry 6” would simply be a more in-depth take on the genre and this could accompany the launch of CD Projekt Red’s “Cyberpunk 2077.”
