Washington, DC, Nov. 02, 2017 -- When the clocks change on November 5, most people are excited to “fall back” for an extra hour of sleep. But instead of hitting snooze, hundreds of families across the D.C.-metro area will take advantage of the extra hour to lace up their sneakers for the Prevent Cancer 5k Walk/Run and Health Fair.

This annual family-friendly event takes place at Nationals Park and along the beautiful Capitol Riverfront. You can walk or run the untimed race, and kids age 10 and under participate for free. You can even bring you furry family members (provided they are on leashes with appropriate tags). Proceeds from the event go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation®, the only nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated solely to cancer prevention and early detection.
When you cross the finish line back at the stadium, explore the comprehensive health fair featuring more than 30 community partners that are promoting healthy living, giving free cancer screenings and providing healthy snacks to refuel. Kids can run the inflatable obstacle course, get their faces painted or practice their swings in the Nationals batting cages.
The event will take place rain or shine. Cost or registration is $30 for adults 18 and older and $20 for kids 11-17. Teams are highly encouraged.
