Even though the Exynos 2400 trails the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in synthetic benchmark tests by a small margin, the two CPUs appear to be neck and neck in real-world gaming settings.
Exynos 2400 Can Keep Up With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 In Actual Games
NL Tech compared the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra versus the Exynos 2400-powered Samsung Galaxy S24+ with a variety of popular Android games to determine whether there was any difference.
The results are pretty startling, to say the least. The two devices performed similarly in Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, and Fortnite. In Gehnshin, the two chips maintained approximately 60fps; in PUBG Mobile at Smooth graphics settings, the two maintained 90fps; and in Fortnite, the consistent frame rate was around 90fps, occasionally decreasing to 70fps during fighting.
NL Tech found a substantial difference in only two games: "Call of Duty: Mobile" and "War Thunder." During the former, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 maintained 120fps throughout the game, however the Exynos 2400 was limited to 60fps for some reason.
In "War Thunder," however, the Exynos 2400 surpassed Qualcomm's solution by sustaining a frame rate of roughly 100fps while the Snapdragon throttled to 40. It's worth noting that "War Thunder" supports ray tracing. Therefore, these findings indicate that Exynos' Xclipse 940 GPU is better suited to handling ray tracing visuals, as per GSMArena.
Exynos 2400's Thermal Efficiency: Bridging Performance with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in Galaxy S24 Series
It's vital to remember a few things here. First, the testing was conducted on pre-production handsets, and second, they are two distinct phones. However, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to have a better cooling solution, including a larger heat sink.
Other factors may be at play in this case. It would be intriguing to see a Samsung Galaxy S24+ with Exynos competing with its Snapdragon-powered sibling.
What's fantastic about the Exynos 2400 is that it doesn't overheat like previous-generation Exynos chips, and the temperatures of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Samsung Galaxy S24+ look to be comparable to those of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The Exynos 2400 performed similarly to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy inside the Galaxy S24 Ultra, both in terms of frame rates and temperatures. It could be a mix of the Exynos 2400's enhanced design, the newer Xclipse 940 GPU (based on AMD RDNA3), Samsung Foundry's third-generation 4nm chip production process, and a larger vapor chamber cooling system.
