Epic Games Store is down to the final week of Holiday Sale and fulfilled its promise of offering 15 free games. For the last giveaway, the PC digital storefront unveiled the entire trilogy of “Tomb Raider,” just as earlier leaks suggested.
The “Tomb Raider” trilogy in question was introduced in 2013, followed by two more installments in 2016 and 2018. Since then, these titles have gotten their special edition bundles that were all not available on Epic Games Store until this week. So aside from closing the digital store’s annual giveaway, this also marks the first time that the entire trilogy would be available on the platform.
As mentioned, the games currently free on Epic Games Store are not the original versions of the titles. New and old fans can start with the trilogy with the “Tomb Raider: Game of the Year” edition. It includes a copy of the 2013 game, the Tomb of the Lost Adventurer DLC, and six additional outfits for Lara and other characters.
For the sequel, Epic Games Store users can download the “Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration,” which has a copy of the 2016 game, where Lara Croft follows through the unfinished research of her father about the lost city of Kitezh. The special edition comes with the base game and the Season Pass that gives players access to additional content, such as “Blood Ties” story DLC and “Lara’s Nightmare.” It also features an online co-op mode and more DLCs, including a new tomb that features Baba Yaga.
The trilogy concludes with “Shadow of the Tomb Raider,” and its Definitive Edition is included in the Epic Games Store free games for the holidays. In this finale, Lara’s adventures bring her to the legendary lost city of the Inca civilization called Paititi. This is the first game in the series to introduce a barter system. The Definitive Edition includes seven DLC tombs and more downloadable weapons, outfits, and skills.
Anyone with an Epic Games Store account can proceed to the digital store’s Holiday Sale page and download the three games without paying for anything. The Holiday Sale promo ends on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m. Eastern Time.
