“Fortnite” developer Epic Games revealed the next set of patches and new contents, including a new Playground mode and several optimizations, arriving through the game’s fifth State of Development update.
In a recently posted blog, Epic Games announced that they will be adding “Playground” under the game’s Limited Time mode. The upcoming gameplay will bring players to the Battle Royale Map but with “some adjusted settings.”
The Playground LTM mode will allow players to build structures while battling other players. Luckily, Epic Games will design this gameplay with an “extended period of time” letting players explore the map alongside the goal of winning every match. The developer has also promised more treasure chests and ammo crates drop in the Playground.
Staying true to the “playground” theme of the upcoming gameplay, Epic Games confirmed that Friendly Fire will be activated in this game mode coupled with fast respawns. So if “Fortnite” players want to, they can mess with their teammates which really puts the “play” in the Playground.
Players do not have to worry about lowering their game standing when they get killed in a friendly fire since Epic Games clarified that stats and challenges are not tracked in Playground. “This represents our initial step into what a creative mode looks like in Fortnite. Practice, strategize and enjoy yourself,” Epic Games added.
Meanwhile, the developer also announced that more optimization updates are coming “Fortnite’s” way to continuously improve the game’s overall performance and stability. For one, Epic Games revealed they are working on further decreasing the overall loading time after hitting the “play” button by improving file performance and ensuring cosmetics will load accordingly.
Several improvements on the game’s UI are also in the pipeline, Epic Games has confirmed. Downed squad members have the option to spectate and somehow provide assistance to their teammates who are still in the game. However, the spectator screen currently displays limited information.
So “Fortnite” players will be delighted to know that Epic Games recognized this issue and has promised to improve it. So in the updates to come, other details such as Item Inventory, Ammo, Crosshairs, Building Edits, Compass, and Markers will be available in the spectator UI.
Meanwhile, Epic Games is yet to announce when these patches and new contents will roll out.
