‘Elden Ring’ update fixes Malenia bug that allows her to regain health even without hitting the player

Bandai Namco announced a new patch for “Elden Ring” that addresses a bug that made Malenia, Blade of Miquella, an even tougher boss to defeat. Malenia’s healing capabilities should work properly again with the latest update released on Wednesday.

To those who have yet to play “Elden Ring,” Malenia is a boss enemy, but players do not have to defeat her to advance in the game. That might be for the best because she is known as one of the toughest, if not the toughest, opponents in the game. One thing that makes her difficult to defeat is her capability to regain health or heal herself whenever she lands a hit on a player.

FromSoftware released patch 1.04 for “Elden Ring” earlier this month, and it appeared to have introduced an issue that made it more difficult to play against Malenia. A Reddit post showed brief footage that the boss enemy was able to regain health even when she was not hitting the player.

The good news is it only took FromSoftware a little more than a week to resolve the issue. A follow update to “Elden Ring” version 1.04 was released on Wednesday with the patch note, “Fixed a bug with Malenia, Blade of Miquella in which her HP was not healed correctly in the online multiplayer environment.” But many players might agree that this will not make Malenia easier to defeat.

The latest “Elden Ring” update, technically version 1.04.1, also fixes other issues, including the reduced effect duration of the Cerulean Hidden Tear. While patch 1.04 made Malenia a tougher opponent, the update also made other bosses randomly die during a match. The developer says this should be fixed in this week’s update. FromSoftware also addressed a bug that prevented the Elden Beast boss “from working properly under certain circumstances.”

Meanwhile, recent data from NPD (via Forbes) showed that “Elden Ring” continues to be one of the best-selling games released over the last year. FromSoftware’s latest IP now holds the title of being the top-selling game of 2022 and continued to hold the first spot in the sales chart last month despite new releases from popular franchises.
