TORONTO, May 30, 2016 -- Provincial and territorial ministers of education now have another tool at their disposal for the promotion of their education systems to international students.

The new pan-Canadian education brand, EduCanada: A world of possibilities, was launched at the recent Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) 2016 Annual Conference in Montreal by the Honourable Doug Currie, Chair of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC), and Minister of Education, Early Learning and Culture for Prince Edward Island, and the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of International Trade for the Government of Canada.
The new brand will raise international awareness about the world-class education and research opportunities available in provincial and territorial educational institutions, from universities, colleges, cégeps, and language schools to early-childhood, elementary, and secondary schools.
International education is a social and economic win for Canada. In 2014 alone, around 336,000 international students collectively spent more than $10 billion in Canada and generated employment for some 90,000 Canadians. Some international students stay in Canada after completing their studies and contribute positively to the vitality of our economy and society. Others return home, taking with them knowledge of Canada that makes them cultural and economic ambassadors for our country.
"The new brand is the product of work with our federal-government colleagues on the promotion of the educational opportunities available in the provinces and territories. And it really is about a world of possibilities: a diverse student body from every corner of the world; a welcoming, tolerant, open society; and a commitment to world-class learning in every field of study," said Minister Currie.
The EduCanada: A world of possibilities logo and branding materials will be used by provincial and territorial governments, the federal government, and individual educational institutions active in the international sphere, according to their specific needs and the context in which they work.
