Nasdaq-listed DeFi Development Corp. has expanded its Solana treasury with the addition of approximately 22,070 SOL and SOL equivalents, valued at around $2.43 million. The latest acquisition brings the company's total holdings to nearly 2.59 million SOL as it continues accumulating digital assets despite cryptocurrency market volatility.
According to an October 12 announcement, DeFi Development now holds approximately 2,586,282 SOL and SOL equivalents, representing a 12% increase since its second-quarter earnings report on August 12.
The company remains committed to its long-term Solana investment strategy, combining direct token purchases with validator operations and staking rewards to grow its cryptocurrency reserves.
CEO Joseph Onorati emphasized that temporary market declines would not affect the firm's accumulation plans.
"We don't change our conviction or our commitment to accumulating SOL on a short-term volatility basis," Onorati stated.
The latest purchase follows previous acquisitions, including approximately 19,000 SOL bought in August, highlighting the company's continued focus on expanding its Solana holdings.
To support future purchases, DeFi Development established a $300 million at-the-market offering program for its CHAD preferred shares. The initiative provides potential financing for additional SOL acquisitions without requiring new common stock issuance.
However, the $300 million represents available offering capacity rather than capital already raised.
CHAD preferred shares reached record trading levels during the week ending October 9, despite weakness across the broader crypto market. Chief Strategy Officer Dan Kang noted that CHAD approached $10 even as Solana prices declined.
The preferred shares currently carry a 13% annual dividend rate based on their $10 stated amount, equivalent to $1.30 annually per share, with dividends payable on business days when declared.
Meanwhile, Onorati identified growing blockchain adoption as another factor supporting the company's Solana treasury strategy.
He highlighted Securitize's introduction of tokenized stock trading on Solana and Samsung's announcement involving stablecoin functionality for 82 million Galaxy devices in the United States.
These developments reflect expanding interest in tokenized financial assets and blockchain-based payment infrastructure.
Despite its growing SOL reserves and strong CHAD performance, DeFi Development shares declined 3.1% to $4.37 on Monday.
Nevertheless, the company intends to continue accumulating Solana through strategic purchases, staking rewards, and financing initiatives.
