SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 15, 2016 -- DarkLightTM, provider of a next-generation cybersecurity analytic and automation platform, today announced the addition of two distinguished officers to its Board of Advisors, Shawn Riley, Director of Cyber Security Science at Monsanto Company, and Demetrios Lazarikos, Chief Information Security Office at vArmour. The mindshare of these gentlemen promises to advance DarkLight’s mission of capturing human expertise and decision making process in order to model knowledge for combating cyber threats.
Shawn Riley, a recognized thought leader who brings 24 years of cyber security, all source cyber threat intelligence, and artificial intelligence experience, with an unparalleled understanding of the pitfalls that overtake modern security teams, will be an invaluable part of the Board of Advisors. Riley’s early evangelization of the DarkLight technology, and practical experience using it, uniquely positions him to participate in research and development discussions as well as mentor the staff on understanding the tradecrafts of cyber security science, advanced cyber defense and cyber threat analytics.
“DarkLight enables human analysts to document their reasoning as Programmable Reasoning Objects (PROs), to make explicit the step by step thinking of how the logic connects the evidence (data) to the claim or finding of the analytic,” explains Shawn Riley. “This enables DarkLight to use the human analyst’s reasoning at scale while formally capturing the human analytic tradecraft knowledge to protect against future knowledge loss”.
Demetrios “Laz” Lazarikos is a recognized expert and visionary when it comes to building, deploying, and supporting information security, fraud and big data solutions. Laz is a three time CISO and has more than 30 years of experience building and supporting some of the largest InfoSec programs within the financial services, retail, hospitality, technology, healthcare, and transportation verticals. As a new advisory board member, Laz will leverage his experience in working with Fortune 1,000 organizations to continue the advancement of DarkLight’s mission and vision.
“DarkLight is dedicated to leveraging the logic, knowledge, and experience of security analysts to deliver human-quality results for defending against today’s sophisticated cyber threats,” says DarkLight CEO, John Shearer. “To that end, we welcome the opportunity to tap into the tremendous talents of both Shawn and Laz to further advance our capabilities and continue to deliver on our mission.”
Riley and Lazarikos join Dave Aucsmith, Chief Scientist of root9B and Michael Kluse, Retired Chief Executive of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) as Senior Advisors to DarkLight.
