Crypto exchange Coinbase appoints new Chief Financial Officer

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced the appointment of Alesia Haas as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Haas joins Coinbase from Oz Management, a global alternative asset management firm based in NYC, where she served as Chief Financial Officer. She has also served as Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategy for OneWest Bank, N.A. Her prior experience includes senior finance, investment and strategy roles with Merrill Lynch and General Electric.

“I’m incredibly excited to have Alesia join Coinbase as our new CFO. She brings deep financial services experience to our growing company. As a fintech company, finance is core to everything that we do. We plan to continue bringing the best and brightest from both finance and technology companies to help create an open financial system for the world,” Brian Armstrong, Co-founder & CEO at Coinbase, said in a statement.

In her role, Haas will help accelerate Coinbase’s goal of building a world-class financial team that scales with the company. According to the official release, she begins immediately while helping Oz Management with the transition through June 1, 2018.

Haas’ addition to Coinbase’s team follows the recent appointments of Balaji Srinivasan as the first Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Rachael Horwitz as Vice President of Communications.

Coinbase also announced major acquisitions this month which includes mobile ethereum wallet Cipher Browser and Earn.com, a platform that allows senders to pay users in cryptocurrency to reply to emails and complete tasks.
