‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ patch rolls out later this month for PC, PS4 and Xbox One

Developer Infinity Ward will be dropping a “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” patch later this month. The update will be the first major one this year and is expected to bring in bug fixes, tweaks to its gameplay as well as new content for all PS4, Xbox One and PC players of the title.

There is no definite date yet as to when the “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” will arrive. However, it is expected to drop ahead of the end of Season 1 and the Battle Pass, which means it will arrive by the end of January 2020, according to Express.

“Should launch in January,” Joe Cecot, Infinity Ward’s Co-Design Director of Multiplayer, told fans on Twitter. “Don’t have an exact date.”

The good news is that the update will contain fixes of known bugs of the game. “Our next big update should have all of the fixes,” Cecot continued. “We start pushing this update through this week. I don’t have the exact date. Sorry.”

He also addressed fans on Reddit by telling them that they’re trying to add more slots to the game, which might already arrive in the next “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” update. ”You and everyone else that has commented on this are right,” Cecot wrote on Reddit. “It’s in mainline back at the studio, and we’ve been tinkering with it.”

However, the director told fans to be patient since getting the tweaks right might take some time. After all, prematurely adding features without proper testing can result in a buggy game.

“I’m not sure which update it’s in, but I think it’s next,” Cecot explained. “Believe it or not, it can cause horrible bugs if not tested properly. I’m not certain about all this, so don’t get fired up on me if I’m wrong. Since I’ve commented here, I'll stick with the issue at the studio.”

When asked by a fan, the director also explained why not all issues were fixed prior to the game’s launch. Apparently, the team had so many things to do that some tasks were prioritized over others.

“The real answer is there are 10s of thousands of tasks that lead up to the launch of the game,” Cecot said. “We have to triage all of those tasks and decide what tasks take priority over others and who in the teams can we assign the task to.”
