PROVO, Utah, March 08, 2018 -- Braid, a workshop series and community for female entrepreneurs, and Convoi, a community and network for Utah’s business leaders, in partnership with Sundance Mountain Resort, today announced the opening of submissions for the first annual Sego Awards. The awards will honor notable female entrepreneurs, CEOs and founders in Utah, and celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the state’s economy.
Award winners will be announced at a gala on May 11, 2018 at the Redford Conference Center at Sundance Mountain Resort; after which, they will be invited to a full-day networking retreat at Sundance. The top 50 finalists will be announced after the submission deadline closes on April 8, 2018.
“Our mission at Braid is to empower women to become great entrepreneurs, which is why we’re announcing the awards on International Women’s Day,” said Allison Lew founder of Braid. "Utah women own nearly 84,000 businesses statewide, yet we’ve found that women entrepreneurs are generally underrepresented in other local awards. We created the Sego Awards to increase visibility for amazing women entrepreneurs.”
Submissions are now being accepted for awards in eight categories:
- E-commerce: Awarded to the e-commerce company with the highest revenue in the last year.
- Fastest Growing Company Under Three Years: Awarded to the company founded in the last three years with the highest percentage of revenue growth in the last year.
- Highest Overall Revenue: Awarded to the company with the greatest overall revenue in the last year.
- Innovation in Technology: Awarded to the company with the most innovative use of technology.
- Social Innovation Award: Awarded to the company using unique approaches to solve social issues, both domestically and abroad.
- Student Founder: Awarded to founders of outstanding student-run companies.
- Top Social Media Influencers: Awarded to the influencers with the highest followership, engagement and innovative content.
- Advocate: Awarded to an outstanding investor, sponsor or mentor of female founders and CEOs and their businesses.
“At Convoi, we bring together business leaders from across the state to network and share ideas, and we’ve been fortunate to meet many of the inspiring women who are leading Utah businesses today,” said Trent Mano, co-founder of Convoi. “We are thrilled to partner with Braid on the Sego Awards to recognize the positive impact Utah’s women entrepreneurs have on our community.”
