“Borderlands 3” is one of the latest games added to the list of launch titles for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its players across all platforms are also getting the “Arms Race” gameplay next month.
Upgraded ‘Borderlands 3’ launches with next-gen consoles
The release of “Borderlands 3” on the same day the consoles arrive in stores was confirmed by developers earlier this week. The official Twitter page for the game announced that it has been certified to be released on Sony and Microsoft’s consoles.

Players who already have a copy for the current-generation consoles will no longer have to purchase “Borderlands 3” twice as the next-gen upgrade is offered for free. However, the free upgrade will not apply for the cross-platform transition. This means that players who bought the game for an Xbox One system will only get a free upgrade for the Xbox Series X/S, the same thing applies for people using PlayStation.
Since 2K Games confirmed that “Borderlands 3” will be available on launch day, this means the action RPG will be playable as soon as the Xbox Series X/S are out on Nov. 10. The PlayStation 5 will be released on Nov. 12 in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea while the rest of the world will have to wait until Nov. 19.
‘Borderlands 3’ players get ‘Arms Race’ on Nov. 10
The “Borderlands 3” release on next-gen consoles is not the only thing happening for the game in November. On the same day it launches on Xbox Series X/S, 2K Games and developer Gearbox are also going to release content for the second season pass. The highlight is the new game mode called Arms Race that will introduce new characters as well as a new skill tree.
“To ensure everyone's on equal footing, all skill trees are disabled in Arms Race, meaning no Action Skills or passive abilities,” “Borderlands 3” developers explained. “The focus here is on gunplay, rewarding your ability to blast attackers while avoiding the Murdercane.” The theme of the Arms Race game mode is described as a “reality murder show” hosted by Vault Hunters Axton and Salvador from “Borderlands 2.” It also features a new arena called the Stormblind Complex, which is a decommissioned military complex located in Pandora.
