OVERLAND PARK, Kan., April 04, 2017 -- Black & Veatch has earned the “Best Achievement of Operational Excellence in Oil & Gas, Power & Utilities” award from a 20-judge panel of business transformation and operational excellence experts. The award recognized the Business Excellence (BEx) program at Black & Veatch for accelerating innovation, leadership development and value creation with a strong track record of results for more than a decade. It was presented at the Business Transformation & Operational Excellence World Summit & Industry Awards (BTOES17) in Orlando, Florida.
“This is a major recognition of our professionals’ success in delivering significant improvements and innovations for our clients’ projects and business operations globally,” said Steve Edwards, Chairman and CEO for Black & Veatch, who accepted the award.
Since its inception in 2003, BEx has grown to more than 5,000 participants globally who identify, scope, collaboratively lead and implement new ideas in power, oil & gas, water and telecommunications. BEx blends right-brain innovation, lean, six sigma and business process management principles to foster greater efficiencies, competitive advantages and business growth.
One BEx project implemented solutions that increased new business in the power, oil & gas sectors. This strategic effort delivered a sales funnel that proactively identified opportunities from early development to business capture. Another BEx example is a global fast start and employee retention program providing effective onboarding and career development paths resulting in increased productivity and cost savings.
“Ideas and methods alone do not transform businesses. People do. People with passion, discipline and resilience who accelerate innovation, strategy execution and value creation,” said José Pires, Vice President and Director of Business Excellence for Black & Veatch. “We crowdsource ideas and leverage concepts from the venture capital world to identify and support innovation leaders and entrepreneurs in our business lines and client organizations.”
BEx innovation acceleration, strategy execution and operational excellence services continue expanding to include clients in technology, finance, healthcare, transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing and non-profit organizations in more than 20 countries.
