Bitcoin Exchange Gemini Introduces Multi-User Accounts

Gemini, a New York-based bitcoin exchange led by Winklevoss brothers, introduced last week multi-user accounts (i.e., sub accounts of one master account) and performance upgrades.

Multi-User / Sub Accounts

This feature will allow multiple people within an organization to register for Gemini and share access to the same trading account. Administrators will be able to grant each user a different access level depending on their role in the organization.

To get started, users need to access the User Management page, or click User Management from the settings menu in the upper right corner of the Gemini dashboard.

From there, they can invite new users to their account and assign each one an access level. The currently available access levels include:

  • Administrator
  • Manager
  • Trader
  • Auditor

Administrator level access includes the authority to manage users; change account address; manage bank accounts; view all data; create, edit or delete API Key; place or cancel order; deposit or withdraw USD; add BTC address and withdraw BTC.

Manager level access includes the ability to change account address; manage bank accounts; view all data; deposit or withdraw USD; add BTC address and withdraw BTC.

A trader can view all data and place or cancel order, while an auditor will be able to only view all data.

Performance Upgrade

The company said that it has majorly improved the performance of its core exchange engine. Measuring the round-trip time for order placement and order cancellation through our API, it estimated around 40-60% decrease in median round-trip time and approximately 45% decrease in the standard deviation.

Future Plans

"We have lots of big plans for Gemini in 2016 — and the first few pieces of those plans are already coming together”, said Eric Winer, VP of Engineering at Gemini, pointing to the recently launched new Activity Feed. “Even if you don’t use our new User Management features, there’s a lot more in store over the next few months”.

He further said that Gemini’s engineering team is currently hard at work to bring new connectivity options, faster deposits and withdrawals, and, at long last, new currencies to trade. Also, the legal team is trying to get Gemini approved to operate in all 50 states, as well as, around the world.
