BTS is one of the most popular singers in the world today, and everyone would agree with this. In fact, the South Korean boy band is the only group that achieved what the Beatles have accomplished, and that is remaining on top of the charts for a long time, and they did this for multiple songs too.
The group also broke many records last year for many things, including music, fashion, and social media. For instance, on YouTube, their music video is the first to reach millions of views in just a short time, and their songs on the Billboard are always on top. They are also trending on Twitter even for the simplest things, and their power sell out anything is unmatched.
The Daesangs of BTS
In any case, in the field of music, their latest achievements are the Daesang awards or the grand prizes at the 34th Golden Disc Awards that was held on Jan. 5 at Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul, in South Korea. BTS made history on that day after bringing home the top awards that include the Album of the Year (Map of the Soul: Persona) and Best Digital Song (Boy with Luv).
“Golden Disc Awards is our last awards in the 2010s and our first awards for 2020. This is all thanks to our fans,” Soompi quoted RM as saying in his acceptance speech for Album of the Year award. “Last year was such a happy year and this year we hope that our side will still be filled to the brim with our ARMY. We will write this book in your name.”
In addition, BTS took home the following awards: Album Division Bonsang, K-Pop Star Award, TikTok Golden Disc Popularity Award and Song of the Year. With their awards, BTS became the first artist to win all the Daesang in several categories.
BTS made their mark beginning in 2019
Forbes reported that BTS’ latest wins at the 34th Golden Disc Awards are also the third time that the band earned the grand prize for the Album of the Year, and they got it in 2020 for the third time in a row. This achievement sealed the group’s status as worldwide superstars.
