BTS Jin: Big Hit Entertainment revealed idol singer’s military enlistment can be delayed; South Korean government revising military service act

It is almost time for BTS Jin to join the army as he is already turning 28 this year. In South Korea, it is mandatory for all males between the ages 18 and 28 to enlist in the army so it can be assumed that he is temporarily leaving the team this year to do his duty for the country.

In the coming years as the BTS members get a year older, they will also leave one by one until everyone has completed their military service. Fans are really sad about this reality that they have even petitioned for the BTS members to be exempted from the army duties since they have brought so much prestige to South Korea on top of the monetary gains for the nation.

However, there nothing that they could do to stop the enlistment of the seven members as approving the request will be unfair to the others. Not just for the ordinary male citizens but celebrities and other famous personalities have also served and did their duties well.

Upcoming enlistment of BTS Jin

Now, it was reported that although getting exempt is out of the question, Big Hit Entertainment recently revealed that they could delay BTS Jin’s enlistment. As per Star Today, in the stock report that the company submitted to the Financial Services Commission, it was stated that BTS consists of members who were born from 1992 to 1997 and everyone is already eligible for active duty service.

The company stated that they think it is possible for them to delay BTS Jin’s enlistment date at least until the end of 2021. Big Hit went on to state that they are already preparing for the time when the members need to leave to fulfill their military service duties.

Military revisions adjustments

It was reported that the Korean government is considering the revision of the military service act for Kpop stars. As per Allkpop, the authorities have already completed consultations and they are now pushing for the revision.

Currently, the act allows outstanding athletes and students enrolled for higher education to delay their enlistment. Kpop stars and artists are not covered in this option to postponed their military service. Once revised, pop stars will be given a chance to delay their enlistment until they are 30 years old.

With that said, if the bill is passed before BTS Jin’s 28th birthday, then he is likely to stay for one or two more years before he leaves for the army. It should be noted that the revision is for postponing only and not exempting anyone from the military service.
