Apple may introduce a premium subscription model for its Intelligence service within three years, according to recent speculation, sparking debate over what features users would pay for.
Apple Intelligence Could Be Subscription-Based, Analyst Speculates
A well-known analyst has speculated that Apple Intelligence could be sold as a subscription service, with limited free functionality for regular users and a monthly price for premium customers.
Nevertheless, for the foreseeable future, it will continue to be promoted as a service that anybody can use without cost.
Some Apple Intelligence service capabilities may cost up to $20 monthly, according to reports earlier this week.
Although Apple is now planning to make the AI features available for free, it may have a strategy to increase its revenue by charging a large cost for its Intelligence as a service. Mark Gurman, an analyst, discusses Apple's potential marketing strategies for Apple Intelligence under a subscription model in his most recent Power On newsletter.
Apple may be considering a subscription-based strategy to recoup some of the resources it has invested in its many generative AI models.
Premium Intelligence Subscription Likely Three Years Off
According to Gurman, paid Apple Intelligence is probably still at least three years away, so consumers will have plenty of time to get used to the capabilities. As a result, Apple will gain an advantage since more customers will be inclined to subscribe.
Users shouldn't be too concerned about the subscription charge just yet, as Apple Intelligence will initially be available to everyone at no cost. Some parts of the service could continue to be free for the typical user even if the company adds additional premium features that are part of the subscription in the future.
Apple Refines Siri and ChatGPT Integration Before Launch
Per WCCFTECH, Apple is taking the time to refine the new Siri experience and ChatGPT integration before the official distribution. These capabilities are considered high-end.
Apple has to establish a strong position in the category before introducing more practical and utility-based features, even while the features are neat.
Since it would be unfair to the corporation to charge for features that consumers have been using for free, this gives them at least three years to come up with something worth a membership cost that users would choose.
Currently, only the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max are compatible with Apple Intelligence, but that will change in October with the release of iOS 18.1.
