KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 02, 2016 -- Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, will host more than 14,000 health care industry leaders, practitioners and Cerner associates for its annual Cerner Health Conference (CHC), Nov. 14-17, in Kansas City.
Clients, leaders and associates will gather to collaborate with peers, share best practices and gain hands-on experience with Cerner’s innovative health care solutions and services. Cerner experts will present demonstrations and interactive exhibits.
Conference events will be hosted throughout the city at the Kansas City Convention Center, Sprint Center, the Marriott Downtown and Muehlebach Hotel. The Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association estimates that CHC will generate more than $18 million for the Kansas City economy, based on spending by the company and attendees, which more than half of whom travel from outside the area.
The 2016 conference theme, “Creating healthier stories,” describes the mission of Cerner and its clients to improve the health of each individual by creating patient-centric care. Conference presentations, sessions and events will center around how care providers can empower patients to be engaged in their health and create a connected health care system across a community to support all touch points across the lifetime of care.
Cerner clients will lead the majority of more than 340 diverse education sessions, which will feature 740 speakers. These sessions will highlight innovations in some of the health care industry’s most relevant areas, including population health, clinical and financial integration, the genomic revolution, telehealth and interoperability.

Monday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m.
- The importance of behavioral health will be the focus of Monday’s opening general session. Kevin Hines, brain health advocate, will share his incredible survival story after he attempted to jump from the Golden Gate Bridge. Hines will speak to the importance of promoting mental health around the world. In addition, Kana Enomoto, principal deputy administrator for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, will discuss national efforts to improve care for mental health conditions across the U.S.
Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 8:30 a.m.
- Tuesday’s keynote will be inspired by working smarter, faster and better together. Charles Duhigg, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times will address core principles of continuous advancement and how to discern critical information from the flood of data we receive each day.
Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 9 a.m.
- The year of the patient will conclude the theme for CHC general sessions. Dr. David Feinberg, president and CEO of Geisinger Health System, will share principles of Geisinger Health’s ProvenExperience™ portfolio, which places patient experience and satisfaction at the heart of the health system. Feinberg will share how a person-centered approach can radically elevate the patient experience, advance organizations and revolutionize the health care industry.
