NEW YORK, Jan. 16, 2017 -- Dr. Robert Resnik of The University of California, San Diego has been selected to join the Physician Board at the American Health Council. He will be sharing his knowledge and expertise on Obstetrics and Gynecology / Reproductive Medicine: Fetal Growth Restriction, Maternal Medical Disorders, Medical Complications of Pregnancy, Placenta Accreta, Prenatal Diagnosis and Imaging.

With over five decades of experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology / Reproductive Medicine, Dr. Resnik offers valuable insight in his role as Professor Emeritus at The University of California, San Diego. As Professor at The University of California, San Diego since 1974, Dr. Resnik’s day-to-day responsibilities include teaching maternal- fetal medicine to students, residents, and fellows, and providing patient care. He has previously served as the Dean of Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean of Admissions and the Chairman of the Department of Reproductive Medicine.
Throughout the course of his training, Dr. Resnik earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1965. Subsequently, he completed his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Yale University in 1970. In 1974, Dr. Resnik completed an NIH Research Fellowship in Perinatal Medicine at the University of Colorado. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Subspecialty Board of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Dr. Resnik is an Elected Fellow ad eundem to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, United Kingdom and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Additionally, Dr. Resnik has held several notable appointments such as: President of the Perinatal Research Society (1985), President of the American Gynecological Club (2002), and President of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society (2009-2010).
His commitment to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology / Reproductive Medicine has led to the following honors: 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine; 2005 Distinguished Guest Speaker for Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology; 2005 UCSD School of Medicine Faculty Mentor of the Year Award.
Dr. Resnik’s interest in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology / Reproductive Medicine developed in medical school due to a great mentor. He attributes his success to enjoying his work and the satisfaction he experiences from his role as a mentor.
Among his many achievements, Dr. Resnik has published more than one hundred peer-reviewed publications, in addition to be working on the eight edition of his textbook, “Creasy and Resnik’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine: Principles and Practice.”
