'Ahsoka' Star Hayden Christensen Called 'The Chosen One' By Lucasfilm Exec: 'There Is No Doubt'

Hayden Christensen was dubbed "The Chosen One" by Lucasfilm's new Chief Creative Officer after his remarkable lightsaber skills.

In the realm of the iconic “Star Wars” franchise, the recent praise for Hayden Christensen's portrayal of Anakin Skywalker, particularly his exceptional lightsaber skills in "Star Wars: Ahsoka," stands as a testament to his enduring impact on the series.

Hayden Christensen Impressed ‘Star Wars: Ahsoka’ Showrunner

Dave Filoni, the showrunner of "Ahsoka" and the new Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm, has expressed immense admiration for Christensen's prowess in lightsaber dueling, noting his "ferocity of performance."

Hayden, 42, reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker in the Disney+ series "Ahsoka," showcasing skills first seen in his debut in 2002's "Attack of the Clones." Dave, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, emphasized that Christensen has retained his edge in lightsaber combat, earning him the moniker "The Chosen One."

"His lightsaber skills are just insane. I mean, he is the Chosen One. There is no doubt,” Dave stated. Their collaboration marked a significant moment, with Filoni recalling an "instant connection" upon meeting Christensen at a past Star Wars Celebration.

This synergy was pivotal in bringing Anakin's character back, especially in flashbacks focusing on Ahsoka's complex relationship with her mentor, Anakin. Hayden immersed himself in "The Clone Wars" episodes to ensure accuracy before filming.

“It was kind of amazing to have somebody who had this experience, too, who would know the things I was talking about related to Anakin and how George saw him. We really understood each other and the language of it,” Dave furthered.

Was The Anakin Real In The ’Ahsoka’ Series?

However, Hayden's role in "Ahsoka" Season 1 sparked curiosity among fans. His character's appearance raised questions about whether Anakin was a mere figment of Ahsoka Tano's mind, a Force Ghost, or part of the ethereal "World Between Worlds." In a Vanity Fair interview, Hayden suggested these sequences are open to interpretation, adding a layer of intrigue to the narrative.

"That's the beauty of how the episode is constructed, in my opinion. Inevitably, the audience has to question what it is they're watching. Is this really the World Between Worlds? What is the World Between Worlds? Is this actually the spirit of Anakin Skywalker, or is this all in Ahsoka's subconscious and we're just going down the yellow brick road as she's drowning and fighting for her life? I think that the episode provides a few really good clues, but it doesn't spell it out for you,” Hayden explained.

With all episodes of “Ahsoka” Season 1 currently streaming on Disney+, fans eagerly await the next chapter. Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka, hinted at ongoing work for Season 2, although an official announcement is still pending from Disney and Lucasfilm.
