‘Agents of SHIELD Season 4, Episode 10 Spoilers: "The Patriot" – Coulson, Mack Discover Maces Shocking Secret; Agency in Danger

‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 4’s episode 10, titled "The Patriot," is set to follow Coulson and Mack as they discover Mace’s shocking secret that could put their agency in a precarious position.

The brief synopsis for “The Patriot” posted on TV Guide reads, “A shocking secret is revealed about Mace (Jason O’Mara) that puts S.H.I.E.L.D. in danger.”

O’Mara’s Jeffrey Mace is an Inhuman and is the Director of spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D. He was considered by both Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and President Matthew Ellis (William Sadler) for the position after proving himself as a hero in the public eye despite his true nature as an Inhuman.

According to Coming Soon, Mace first appeared in the 1941 comic book “The Human Torch #4.” This version had no superhuman abilities but took on the identity of Patriot, inspired his hero Captain America. The character also served as Captain America for a time following Steve Rogers’ death.

Mace made his full television appearance in season 4’s episode 2, titled “Meet the New Boss,” which aired in September 2016. It seems that the incoming episode’s title refers to Mace, providing his opportunity to shine on the small screen.

Coulson and Mack (Henry Simmons) are about to discover Mace’s shocking secret that may put SHIELD in a difficult position. It may be that Mace’s history as a replacement for Captain America could cause come complications for the agency.

The series recently revealed Mace’s Inhuman nature, which enabled him to exhibit superhuman strength. However, it seems that episode 10 may take Mace back to his Patriot roots.

 ‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 4’s episode 10, titled "The Patriot," is scheduled to air on ABC on January 17, 2017. It was directed by Kevin Tancharoen and written by James C. Oliver and Sharla Oliver. It will be followed by episode 11, titled "Wake Up," scheduled for January 24.
