“Agents Of SHIELD” Season 4 Brings Ghost Rider To Life, But Will Not Revive Dead Characters

Agents of SHIELD Season 4 has delved into the magical side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna). Ghost Rider’s entry into the series has touted it the biggest to date, as demonstrated by a new VFX reel, Screenrant reported.

The new reel showcased work done by the same company behind the magic of a series of TV shows, including “Gotham”, “Westworld”, “Person of Interest” and “Stranger Things.” CoSA, the video effects studio, managed to work in the effects to already shot footage, which makes the Ghost Rider debut more impressive for television standards, Gizmodo said.

The new reel may also indicate that the showrunners behind “Agents of SHIELD” are pulling all the stops to make Season 4 better, but it doesn’t mean that they’ll be doing some major story arc shakeups, like reviving dead characters, for example. Jed Whedon already shared to Entertainment Weekly that while they are considering bringing others beside Aida, “scheduling, or personal issues, or other shows that take our people away” have definitely shut that window of opportunity.

Executive producer Jeff Bell also explains Aida’s return, saying, “Aida rebuilt her body out of dark stuff from a dark, terrible universe, so she wasn’t exactly human. There was a Darkhold filter through which she came, so it seemed that anyone who came back that way was not, in fact, really themselves, but some corrupted version of themselves.”

Although ABC did not include “Agents of SHIELD” in its fall lineup, Collider said the decision to delay the show until midseason is to give some breathing room for “Marvel’s Inhumans,” which has been given the Friday slot. As such, fans should expect a Season 5 debut in January next year.
