CHICAGO, Jan. 22, 2018 -- ACM SIGGRAPH announces the selection of Kristy Pron, media arts and pipeline developer at Walt Disney Imagineering, as the SIGGRAPH 2020 Conference Chair, which will take place in Washington, D.C. for the first time ever. Pron has been a volunteer for SIGGRAPH since 2006, holding positions such as Emerging Technologies Chair in 2015, Experience Hall Chair in 2016 and 2017, and, most recently, General Submissions Chair for the upcoming SIGGRAPH 2018 in Vancouver.

“We are so excited for Kristy to lead the SIGGRAPH 2020 conference,” said Marc Barr, SIGGRAPH Conference Advisory Group Chair. “Her excellent leadership skills and history with the organization are strengths we are confident will lead to a successful conference.”
A current native of Orlando, Fla., Pron spends her work life developing immersive pre-visualization experiences to help other Imagineers virtually design park buildings, attractions, or experiences. Pron holds both a B.S. and M.S. in Digital Media from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Before working at Disney, she worked in D.C. for six years with the Department of Defense.
SIGGRAPH 2020 will take place in Washington, D.C. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 19–23 July 2020. Given the success of SIGGRAPH 2017, which hosted over 16,500 attendees in Los Angeles from 88 countries worldwide, and the excitement surrounding the upcoming SIGGRAPH 2018 conference in Canada, Pron and team are excited to venture to Washington, D.C. in summer 2020.
“I’m thrilled to be bringing SIGGRAPH to D.C. It’s a wonderful city with so much history and excitement around every corner,” said Pron. “The SIGGRAPH community is like family. They are so inspiring and passionate and I love coming every year to reignite creativity and make life-long industry connections and friends.”
Pron will follow SIGGRAPH 2019 Conference Chair Mikki Rose, Fur Technical Director at Blue Sky Studios.
