‘Stranger Things’ season 2 is set to feature Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery as the newest characters Max and Billy, respectively. The two actors have been promoted as series regulars together with Joe Kerry and Noah Schnapp. Meanwhile, creators Matt and Ross Duffer addressed online fan theories for the second season admitting that some were “very close”.
According to News.com.au, Matt and Ross Duffer addressed the numerous fan theories online confirming that some of them were close. Matt Duffer said, “Some of the fan theories online are amazing. Most are wrong, but I’ve read a few that are right or very close.” Ross Duffer chimed in, “Some of these theories are elaborate and smart. They’re not crap.”
The newly emerged theories followed after the big reveal of the new season’s episode titles as well as the cryptic teaser that threw together seemingly random words and phrases. The teaser opened with “Madmax”, perhaps alluding to George Miller’s dystopian action film that starred Mel Gibson as “Mad” Max Rockatansky.
However, an article on Melty suggested that Max is a young girl of the same age as the principal characters Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Will (Noah Schnapp). Max is set to be introduced in the incoming season together with her older brother Billy. It was speculated that because Billy is a bit of a jock, he may be one of Steve’s friends.
According to E! News, actors Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery are set to join the new cast as Max and Billy, respectively. In addition to their casting, Netflix has also promoted the two as part of the series regulars.
Sink’s character is described as a tomboy with a complicated history. She is also said to be quite suspicious of everyone around her.
Meanwhile, Montgomery’s Billy is Max’s edgy and confident step-brother, who isn’t afraid of going after what he wants. Despite his charisma, he is said to have a volatile, violent, and unpredictable nature.
Winona Ryder is set to reprise her role as Will’s unnerved mother Joyce while David Harbour returns as Chief Jim Hopper of Hawkins Police Department. Joe Kerry, who plays Nancy’s boyfriend Steve, has also been promoted to series regular.
‘Stranger Things’ season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2017. The science-fiction and horror web television series was renewed for a second season run on August 31, 2016.
The show was created by Matt and Ross Duffer and is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. It is intended as an homage to 1980s pop culture and inspired by the works of iconic filmmakers in the science-fiction and horror genre namely Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and John Carpenter
It premiered on July 2016 to positive reviews from critics.
