Currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at the University of Cape Town. Completed an MPhil in Public Policy in 2009. Lectured in political economy at the University of Cape Town from 2010 to 2011. Worked as a parliamentary researcher in 2012. Joined the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) in 2013.
I work predominantly on the governance of natural resources, especially the extractive industries, but also on the illegal wildlife trade. I want to see ordinary Africans benefit from our resource wealth, rather than it being a fuel for deepening authoritarianism or further excluding the marginalised.
I have published 4 peer-reviewed journal articles since 2014, in addition to a number of SAIIA publications that can be accessed at www.saiia.org.za
