I am an Associate Professor in Political Science and International Relations at UWA. I did my undergraduate degree at Lancaster University in the UK before heading to Boulder Colorado for my Masters and Ph.D. After my doctorate I spent three years at the University of Chicago on a Harper Fellowship before moving to UWA.
My field of specialization is political philosophy. In the history of ideas I am particularly interested in the work of Hobbes and Locke and their influence on the rise of Liberalism. I also work on contemporary ideas about democracy, rights and freedom. I am currently writing a book about free speech.
