Dan studied Agricultural Economics at Newcastle University before completing his Master's degree and PhD at Manchester where he has remained apart from spells as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Western Australia in 2002 & 2008.
He is an adjunct Professor at UWA.
He is an Expert Member of the Food Standards Agency's Social Science Research Committee and a member of the Editorial Board of the European Review of Agricultural Economics.
His current research includes:

Economics of Foodborne Illness (EFBI). Food Standards Agency funded project investigating the economic costs of microbial foodborne disease, using QALY and WTP measures.
