Dr Andrew Dowse AO is the Director of Defence Research at Edith Cowan University. Before starting in this role in early 2018, he had a 37 year career with the Royal Australian Air Force as an electronic engineer, reaching the rank of Air Vice-Marshal. His last few positions at Defence were associated with capability development, strategic planning and the operation of Defence's communications and IT. He is a Fellow Chartered Professional Engineer of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
