I specialise in modern British imperial South African history, especially relating to migration and identity. I am currently researching the creating of a migration system within South Africa, and how this connects to modern global systems of migration control. An article on the implementation of border controls, and the important role of border officials, will appear in the Journal of Migration History in 2018.
