Eszter Simon

Research Fellow in International Relations and Psychology, University of Birmingham

Eszter Simon earned her doctorate in Political Science at Central European University in 2008. Between 2007 and 2015 she taught international relations at such prestigious universities in Central Europe as Comenius University in Slovakia and Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. She was Fulbright Scholar-In-Residence at Southern Polytechnic State University (now Kennesaw State University) in 2010-2011.

Dr. Simon has expertise in theories of foreign policy analysis, psychological approaches in particular. Her primary research focus is on the Moscow-Washington Hotline in the Cold War, examining the role trust has played in the patterns of its use. She is also interested in the politics of terrorism and insurgency, American foreign policy in general as well as Hungarian foreign policy.

She has done substantial work regarding teaching and learning politics. She co-edited two books, the Handbook on Teaching and Learning Political Science and International Relations and Teacher Development in Higher Education. Existing Programs, Program Impact, and Future Trends. She provided her research expertise for the project 'Teaching in Higher Education' project (2010-2013) in Slovakia. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2013.
