Mazda Motor Corp has begun accepting reservations for MX-30 Self-empowerment Driving Vehicle, a modified SUV that can be solely controlled with hands.
Many physically disabled users may drive the modified version of the MX-30 SUV that is set for a January release.
The new vehicle is equipped with a ring on the steering wheel that can function as an accelerator and a lever on the left side of the driver that acts as a brake.
It also is equipped with a board that wheelchair users can sit on while moving into the driver's seat.
The extra features cost 528,000 yen on top of the cost of the original MX-30 model.
Able-bodied users can also use pedals to drive the car.
Mazda is also looking into developing disabled-friendly equipment for other models.
