Xbox Cloud Gaming is currently one of the ways video game fans are able to play a long list of games on mobile devices even though they were originally designed to run on high-end PCs and gaming consoles. And Microsoft reported on Monday that it has observed higher engagement through iOS devices after crucial performance improvements.
“You asked for a better iOS experience, and as a result, we have brought major performance improvements to all supported iPhone and iPad devices,” Xbox said in a blog post. “With these updates, you should have a smoother and more responsive gameplay experience.”
The company said it has received a “significant increase in positive player feedback” since it deployed performance-focused updates on supported iPhones and iPads. Xbox also revealed that the playing time of iOS and iPadOS players went up by 35 percent following the improvements.
With these reported positive outcomes, Xbox is encouraging more Xbox Cloud Gaming users to try the cloud-based service on compatible iPhones and iPads. To play via the cloud, iOS and iPadOS users will have to open the Xbox.com/play link on the Safari browser and log in with their Microsoft account. They can also leave feedback through Apple’s web browser.
For those new to Xbox Cloud Gaming, note that it is only available through the Game Pass Ultimate subscription that costs $14.99 per month. While Microsoft says the Game Pass library currently has more than 100 games, not all of them support Xbox Cloud Gaming. However, it could still be a worthy subscription for avid gamers since Microsoft has added a number of AAA games to the Xbox Cloud Gaming catalog, including the acclaimed “Microsoft Flight Simulator.”
Meanwhile, “Microsoft Flight Simulator” head Jorg Neumann recently suggested that Microsoft is working on adding keyboard and mouse support on a “platform-level” for Xbox Cloud Gaming-supported games. This is good news to fans of the simulation game that are not quite used to playing the game with controllers, but it is still unclear it would work on iPhones and iPads once implemented.
